Yellow Mellow

Hi everyone,

A new Simon Says Stamp Challenge Monday is here for you. DT member Anna- Karin challenges you to create a Yellow inspired project. We can't wait to see what yellow inspired projects you will come up with!

This week I was inspired by the combination of yellow and black. I think this is a very beautiful combination with high contrast. The background of my manila #8 tag is made with the Chunky Chevron stencil and some Lemon Zest spray. I simply can't get enough of the new Distress Marker Spritzer and I used it with the Spiced Marmalade marker and Dot Fade stencil to create a little more interest to the background.

The letters are made with Embossing Paste that I colored with Black Soot Distress Paint and applied it with the Schoolhouse stencil. The edges of the tag are also done with the Black Soot Distress Paint. In order to enhance the contrast even more.

The City Skyline stamp from Tim Holtz is such a cool stamp and have it stamped on the bottom of my tag with Jet Black Archival Ink. As you know I have a sort of obsession with washi tape, and yes, this tag needed also some.

CC3C #1 Paint Marbeling

Hi everyone,

The time is here for the first challenge of the Compendium of Curiosities 3! Linda Ledbetter is hosting this amazing challenge on her blog. This time with a really cool new team called the Curiosity Crew. I have been really looking forward to it when I heard that this challenge was coming. I joined in the last one, and had so much fun. This time it's a bi-weekly challenge. So we have more time to join in.
This is a great time to thank Terry once again, because I was the lucky winner of a copy of CC3 signed by Tim on her blog! The book wasn't available in the Netherlands yet, so I'm such a lucky lady that she picked my name out of all the entries. Thanks Terry, you're the best!

We are starting this journey with the Paint Marbeling technique. It's such a cool technique. The properties of the Distress Paints are that they marbelise when they come into contact with each other and they also react to a little water. Once they are dry, they remain as they are and they are permanent. If you don't have Distress Paints, I recommend them without a doubt!

The theme of this tag is Springtime and I had a nice stamp set laying around that I had never used before. The wooden butterflies made their return. I love them.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Hugs,
Sandra

12 tags of 2014 - April

Hi everyone,

Wow what a gorgeous tag Tim made for the month of April. It's really stunning! This time I'm a little less late ... It's getting better. To my defense, I wanted one of those cool frameworks dies and I finally purchased the Tattered Pinecone die. They arrived this weekend, and couldn't wait to put them to work.
The background is really cool and I so fun to make. I really like washi tape and I never use it this way. It's so beautiful how the Distress Distress Ink and Paint go together.

It remains a challenge for me to make that tattered pinecone and in this case into florets. Although this is the first time that I have made them with this die. But I've made them before with my Silhouette Cameo.

Thank you for stopping by! Love to see you next time!

Summer in Bloom

Hi everyone,

A new Simon Says Stamp Challenge Monday is always a nice start of the week. This week we have another fun challenge for you: Big Stamp! Whether it's a big background stamp, a large pattern or just a big stamp in general. As long it's a big stamp you're good to go!

When I saw this beautiful stamp from Prima, I wanted it right away. It's so cute and cheerful! Perfect for the Big Stamp Challenge. As you know, I absolutely love my Gelatos and I didn't played with them for a little while. My favorite Gelatos technique is the drippage effect. So I covered the pages with Gesso. Then picked out the colors picked that I wanted to use.

It's so easy, but so cool how you can remove the Gelatos with stencils and with a baby wipe. Or even can apply some color with a "dirty" colored wipe.
The title Summer's in Bloom is a cool Reef song, I've listen to it a lot in my teens. Even went to a couple of their concerts back in the day. The letters SUMMER are stamped with the exclusive Simon Says Stamp big Sketched Alphabet stamps.

I've experimented a bit with black colored Gesso. It's a lot thinner than modeling or embossing paste. But I find the effect quite nice, although I do like the look of the paste more.

The Prima Joy Bloom stamp needed to be the focal point and have therefore only colored a few elements. I've done this with Gelatos, Distress Markers and Water Brush.

Time is on your side

Hi everyone,

It's Monday and it's time for a new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. DT member Tracy suggested a "winged things" themed challenge. What do you think of? Fairies, birds or perhaps airplanes. Love to see what you'll come up with.

One of my favorite stamps is the Wings stamp from Tim Holtz. This is also one of the first stamps I bought when I started paper crafting. I wanted to combine it with the Time Traveller stamp, with the thought that time flies, but not for a Time Traveler. I found the contradiction very funny. Hence the sentiment.

First I stamped the Time Traveler on my card base, then again on a piece of masking paper. After a bit of fuzzy cutting I placed it over the stamped image. Over it I stamped the wings. I didn't masked those off. With some Pumice Stone Distress Ink, I started to make the background.

The Clockwork stencil fits perfectly with my theme. I applied it with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. I've made the edges darker with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. To give it more depth I used the Crackle and the Curious text stamps.

With this card, I've tried to create a lot of depth and layers without applying actual dimension. Such as the wings behind the Time Traveler and the Washi tape that runs behind him.

Love the journey

Hi everyone,

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog has another challenge for you! This week it's all anout the journey! The creative journey, your life journey of maybe a vacation. Love to see what you'll come up with!

When I think of a journay I think of travel. When I go on vacation, I usually do a citytrip. This year I'm going to Barcelona! I think it's a very beautiful city and can't wait to go. For the base of my tag I used Teresa Collins Far Away paper. This paper is very thick and heavyweight paper, perfect to make a tag out of. The colors are neutral and have just applied some more color with Peacock Feathers and Crushed Olive Distress Ink.

I've made the edges darker with Walnut Stain. The travel tag is also cut out of the Far Away paper collection. 'Destination' is a rub on from Tim Holtz, which fits perfectly on the tag.

The hearts and stars are die cut out of adhesive cork with the exclusive Simon Says Stamp Holiday Shapes die. I thought that the cork would fall apart with the littlest shapes, but it seems that the adhesive backing holds them together.
